To get started, go from room to room and make
a list of your valuable items. Audio equipment, jewelry, furniture, antiques,
sports equipment, televisions, appliances, drapes, linens, computer equipment,
clothes, tools, snow removal equipment and any other items of value. It is a
good idea to include items that may be stored elsewhere and not at your home.
It is important to be as descriptive as possible when
describing your valuables. Include the color and dimension of the item. Also
to be listed, if possible, are the following:
Serial number
Current value or replacement cost
When purchased or age of item
Quantity
Brand or Manufacturer
It’s always a good idea to photograph your valuables; it
may seem like double work but will be well worth it in the end.
